Besides being a talented, in-demand actor and a Coen Brothers regular, John Turturro has built a parallel career as a screenwriter and director of quirky films full of idiosyncratic characters, like "Passione" and "Romance & Cigarettes", that walk the fine line between comedy and drama. His latest labor of love, a hilarious yet unexpectedly affectionate story, was enough to convince Woody Allen to take the lead after exclusively appearing in his own films for the past 14 years.
Together, they make for a killer combination! Allen stars as Murray, a failed businessman who convinces his terminally poor friend and former employee Fioravante, to accept the indecent proposal of two well-off ladies (Sofía Vergara and Sharon Stone) for paid sex. Soon, their new business partnership - with Fioravante as gigolo and Murray as his pimp - becomes wildly successful and the low-profile Fioravante turns out to be a big hit with bored, upper-crust ladies.
