The 15th Athens Open Air Film Festival powered by DEI kicked off in magical fashion under the starry sky!
Over 700 attendees filled the enchanting grounds of the Zappeion Megaron last night, offering a warm welcome to the 15th anniversary edition of the city’s beloved cinematic institution!
📽 The festival opened with Francis Ford Coppola’s masterpiece The Conversation, in a stunning screening that immersed the audience in the film’s iconic soundscape - beautifully blended with the natural surroundings of the Zappeion - officially marking the start of another cinephile summer. From June through August, Athens will be filled with images, stories, and emotions.
🎤 Opening remarks were delivered by the Festival’s Artistic Director, Loukas Katsikas; the President of the City of Athens Culture, Sports & Youth Organization, Eleni Zontirou; and Tatiana Pappa, Director of the Athens International Film Festival. The event was also movingly honored by the presence of renowned and beloved film critic Yiannis Bakogiannopoulos.
