The film that Alain Resnains dedicated to English journalist and presenter Dennis Potter is a romantic musical made in 1997, starring Pierre Arditi, Sabine Azéma, Lambert Wilson and Jane Birkin.

The legendary French auteur, who passed away a few months ago, experiments with the soundtrack and chooses to portray his characters' emotional fluctuations with a multitude of French chansons in the place of dialogue, sang by Jane Birkin, Serge Gainsbourg, Charles Ashnavor and Dalida.

In the film, Odile (Sabine Azéma) is married to Claude (Pierre Arditi) and is looking to move into a larger apartment. Her younger sister Camille (Agnès Jaoui) has just finished her doctoral dissertation and is in love with a real estate agent, who happens to be handling Odile's apartments search.

Nicolas (Jean-Pierre Bacri), Odile's ex-boyfriend, is also looking for a new place to live. Once he's back in town, the film turns into a rollercoaster of misunderstandings and romantic adventures against the backdrop of the City of Light. K.Th.
