The 3rd Athens Open Air Film Festival, after the disruption of the honorary screening of the film «Zazie in the Metro», announces its recurrence at the same place, the idyllic coffee place in the garden of the Numismatic Museum, for this Sunday, July 21 at 9pm.

The 3rd Athens Open Air Film Festival, after the disruption of the honorary screening of the film «Zazie in the Metro», announces its recurrence at the same place, the idyllic coffee place in the garden of the Numismatic Museum, for this Sunday, July 21 at 9pm.

The recurrence of the screening is organized as a least compensation for the devotion of our Festival’s fans and is realized in collaboration with the Numismatic Museum and the kind support of the French Embassy in Greece, the French Institute of Greece and TV5 Monde.

All the events of the 3rd Athens Open Air Film Festival are organized with the kind support of the Greek National Tourism Organization, while Fischer will be with us again to offer plenty of cool beer to the visitors.

The film: 10-year-old Zazie goes to Paris to spend a weekend at her eccentric uncle's house, so that her mother can find time for her lover. The young wildcat, though, has no intention of sitting still. As she gets away from under uncle Gabriel's watch, she wanders around the crazy – and full of peculiarities – Paris, having as a sole wish to get into the metro. The fact that the workers are keeping it closed is no more than an insignificant detail.

“Zazie in the Metro” (1960), one of the most distinctive movies in the anyhow adventurous filmography of Louis Malle, follows the steps of its eponymous and extremely popular novel by Raymond Queneau. Malle dares to intervene several times in the original material, which many rushed to deem impossible to adapt and brings to life on screen a magical story of adulthood - this “forced” one of the pioneers of Nouvelle Vague, Francois Truffaut, to express his enthusiasm in writing.

We, therefore, invite you to indulge into one of Louis Malle’s most ecstatic moments in a film that easily managed to stand out from the revolutionary French filmography of the 60s.
